About Me

My first job was as an officer in the British Army (I didn't know any better at the time!) followed by a period in a similar industry, after which I decided to pursue my love of painting. My subsequent classical training in Florence and love of artists such as Klimt play a strong role in much of my work, where the combination of decorative design and naturalism creates a personal piece, the one complimenting the other.....I hope. I am an admirer of the Old Masters as well as more Modern Mster... more

Simon, I like your direction, the pieces have a timeless quality to them. The use of gold leaf is wonderful, I have just begun to experiment with it and really am excited about the possibilities. Great work!

I particularly appreciate the influence of Gustav Klimt and the incoporation of his style in the backgrounds for Marlin, Nude, and Green Monkey. Your eye for the female form is mercifully much kinder however, than Klimt''s. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Hi Simon Iam most impressed with your work.I am especially fond of the portrait of the girl in red. Your work has a sinuosity about it which I like, as in nature there are no straight lines.

I love your figurative works. I couldn''t help but get excited to see that you are inspired by the works of Gustav Klimt as he is one of my all-time favorite master artists! You have a beautiful resemblance to his craftsmanship and I am elated to continue following your posts. I have placed a link to your website on my blog. Keep it up - Jared
